Museums
Endearing, small scale museums are to be found at the Heritage Centre at Pewsey, and the even smaller Market Lavington Village Museum .
The Wiltshire Heritage Museum in Devizes, together with its associated Library and Gallery, is Designated as one of the top 62 museums in the UK, due to the excellence of its Bronze Age collections, arguably the finest to be seen outside London. Founded over 150 years ago, it has dedicated itself to preserving the rich archaeological and historical treasures and records of Wiltshire, including the World Heritage Site of Avebury and Stonehenge.
Atwell Wilson Motor Museum
The Atwell Wilson Motor Museum , near Calne contains over 70 cars, plus some interesting old motorbikes and a fire engine. Open Sunday - Thursday.
The Science Museum, Wroughton
The Science Museum , Wroughton, is where some of the items that are just too big for the London museum are kept. It does not open on a daily basis, except in August, but does have themed openings on the first weekend of each month feature subjects as diverse as The Night Skies, Kites, and making your own space rocket.
